We were really excited when The Open University approached us to work on a project that would incorporate what they do (delivering top notch educational opportunities) with what we do (delivering top notch apps and games).
Brief
Koko teamed up with The Open University and the UK Mathematics Trust to create an interactive maths/brain teaser app inspired by classic puzzles, that would test a user's knowledge and puzzle-solving skills. The app was intended to combine logical content with game play, raising the awareness of mathematical problem solving amongst young people and adults. The app needed to be educational but still appeal to a wide audience.
Results
The final app, Perplex, is an emporium of lateral thinking, creative games consisting of a number of main puzzles and over 40 daily challenges. Users collect stars according to game speed or number of moves taken to complete. The design work is highly polished and by incorporating Facebook to the app, sharing and challenging friends to play increases social reach. The mobile app is available to play on the clients' websites and mobile devices, downloadable via the Appstore and Google's Play Store. Flex your brain muscles, try Perplex now!
